Risa's approach to her writing is much like a method actor. She not only visualized the actions of her characters, but if she had not personally experienced them, she researched and lived those actions through her writing. She has tried her best to bring as much reality and truth to every moment, action, and feeling. Since she has not murdered, she could only put herself in the scene and let her imagination take over. The subject matter of both novels hit close to home and she hopes it provokes a similar feeling in her readers.
